Ephraim

Ephraim led a very active life leading up to his surgery, as both as karate instructor and athlete. But following the onset of a cervical terbuculosis absess with quadriparesis, this all changed. After seeing several doctors who suggested physical therapy, Ephraim said his conscience was telling him this was not the solution. Overtime, Ephraim’s pain increased, and he lost the ability to walk. His wife had to do everything for him, such as bathing and feeding him. When his doctors began discussing surgery, Ephraim knew he could not afford what was needed. He stated that he lost all hope and was at peace knowing he would die without surgery. Then he heard about AIC CURE Kijabe through a family friend. Dr. Theuri connected Ephraim to Dr. Humphreys. During the Carolyn Jane Foundation team’s next visit in January 2015, Ephraim at the age of 45, received surgery and healed under the care of the AIC CURE team, Carolyn Jane Foundation team, and–of course–his wife Millicent. Ephraim returned home to his village a week after surgery. His family and friends thought they were seeing a ghost doubting they would ever see him alive again. Ephraim lives a life without limitations and continues to visit the Carolyn Jane Foundation team year after year.

In Ephraim’s words regarding CJF:

Am so delighted about the expansion of the CURE facility through the Carolyn Jane Foundation. When I attended the ground breaking of the new facility. I saw great hope to most of our people who are really suffering. Most people prefer going to India for specialized spine treatment. Putting up this facility for orthopaedic spine care and providing advanced training of local providers is an ideal idea to help the people suffering in our region. I hail those who have given their resources and ask more to come up and support the Carolyn Jane Foundation to complete the project. Am aware besides Kenya, other Countries within our boarders will also benefit from the same facility. It will be ideal to efficiently and effectively be a solution to ease those suffering from spine problems within the region.
