Faith
When Faith was just 11 years old in 2013 she experienced back pain for the first time while going down a slide on the school playground. She was taken to Kenyatta National Hospital and an x-ray was performed. Faith was diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis. Since surgery was not an option financially, Faith wore a spine jacket for several months but she stated that it only made the pain worse. Faith’s parents then brought her to Kikuyu Hospital who referred them to seek care at CURE Kijabe with Dr. Theuri. When Dr. Humphreys and the Carolyn Jane Foundation team arrived in January 2015, Faith was given hope that with corrective spinal surgery, she would be able to lead a normal life without pain and limitations.
“I loved the treatment I got at the hospital, especially praying with the doctors and nurses and them getting to know me“ Faith and her parents visit CJF Team in Kijabe nearly every year. Faith is going to be starting at the University in January 2023 to study Culinary Arts. Her dream for the future is to become a chef and to start her own five star restaurant. During Covid, Faith began making cakes for family and friends, which now has become a successful entrepreneur business . She also loves to draw and paint.
Being a part of Faith’s life over the last seven years has been a joy. The CJF Team had watched Faith grow from ashy, artistic young girl to a confident, capable, and mature young woman.
