Daniel

Daniel, who is 21 years old, is a bright, engaging, driven individual who takes great pride in education and community involvement. He is currently attending university in Nairobi, and will be completing his third year with an emphasis in Finance. As the youngest of eight children, he is very passionate about his family, and also enjoys hiking, football, and playing cards with his friends.

Daniel’s debilitating back pain led to a referral from local health professionals, who recommended treatment through Cure Kenya. His back pain had persisted for over three years, and eventually drove him to seek assistance. Daniel’s consultation led the Nairobi specialists to recommend treatment through Cure Kenya, which was only a “short” two-hour drive away. A skilled examination from our team and CURE orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Theuri paved the way for surgery through the Carolyn Jane Foundation. Always the optimist, Daniel prayed his treatment would help restore a “healthy, stable life” and bring him back to a point at which he can fully invest himself in his studies and activities.

Daniel underwent a successful scoliosis in October 2022. He was up within hours of the operation, and we found him outside walking around and basking in the sun during rehab. With help of the CJF Team, who guided local Cure physiotherapists and nurses, Daniel was successfully able to complete all of his rehab goals and return to his family in Nairobi. His goal is to regain enough strength to return to university and complete his remaining 1.5 years, earning a degree in Finance, after which he’d like to travel to Norway and start his professional career.

Here is a picture of Daniel on his day of discharge, looking strong, brave, and ready to tackle anything. We were all touched by Daniel’s story, and were blessed to help this young man stand tall and reach for his dreams. It is truly a pleasure to serve individuals like this through the Carolyn Jane Foundation at Cure Kenya.
